The Nevada City Firehouse Conversion; a state-of-the-art energy-efficient home.

Designed by acclaimed local firm, Atmosphere Design Build, in 2017. A spectacular open-space design provides for a versatile three-bedroom home. Firehouse doors were converted into expansive windows with steel surrounds for shading.  Light flows through the south and west oriented windows from sunrise to sunset. Distinctive hardwood wide-plank flooring stretches out throughout the house. Hand-crafted details abound. The firehouse underwent an energy retrofit to create a comfortable, very low energy use home. The walls, roof and floor are super insulated and new windows were outfitted throughout the home. A 5.5 kW (Owned) solar system offsets nearly all the home’s energy consumption. PG&E, NID water and propane totaled only $100 a month in 2018. Five minutes to downtown Nevada City and Scotts Flat Lake. Home features an In-law or caretaker studio with separate entrance.
